MMMmmmm....! Well this IS a journey! From the start of this year I have been following the 'inner promptings' of 'IT'...'them'...the great inner Divinity...to work with voice for the highest good of all. Beginning with an affirmations singalong group...moving into toning...and now back to my roots...chanting...! OK..I'll play the game. The great game 'Lila' (in sanskrit)...and none of it is personal. It is up to me to remain aware enough in the present moment to intuit clearly where to put my energy for the greatest good..including mine of course. I guess it is what they call recognising one's Dharma. One of the commonest things people say, after complaining about how unfulfilled they feel in whatever area of their life they are whingeing about, when they are asked what would make them feel good?...what do they WANT to do?...is I DON'T KNOW!...NO IDEA...! So I'm feeling really grateful indeed to step off that cab rank and to finally be on the Dharma journey. Not that it is a straightforward 'here's your package now go to it ' kind of thing. It's much more interesting than that. It feels more like a treasure hunt. But a treasure hunt set up by a kindly old granny who doesn't really want to make it too hard. Just tricky enough to be exciting.
So...to chanting. The NEW group is focusing on toning and chanting of all kinds. Ancient, modern, eastern, western, pagan and original. The idea is to use the voice, which is an awesome carrier of conscious intent, to both enter altered states, and to help manifest our chosen realities. Hindu sanskrit chant is a tried and true methods of doing just this, but is accompanied by many other forms of voice magic. One can chant runes, vowels placed at appropriate chakras, Hebrew sacred words (Hebrew is an 'energy based' language as is Sanskrit) and words in our own language which are particularly loaded, for instance LOVE. Loaded implies that they are connected to a reservoir of energy which has built up over perhaps hundreds of years of use, especially when connected with highly charged and emotional events and experiences. We will undoubtedly have some very interesting and profound experiences together! I am intoxicated by the perfume of all the material I am researching and putting together for our practices.
